Brian Robertson has proved to be a consistently strong performer for Triangle Veterans this season and against Seaton Seniors his excellent form proved to be the deciding factor in the fixture. Robertson has won twenty two of his twenty six matches and so has just the edge over his team-mate Doug Sinclair whose statistics show twenty one wins from twenty six played.
Although Robertson had to struggle in two of his matches his consistency held out to beat Abby Birnie 23, -18, 16; Raymond Rattray 11 and 11; and Bob Hart 13, -17, 17.
Sinclair was untroubled by both Rattray, whom he beat 15 and 13 in the first match of the evening, and Birnie, whom he beat 21 and 7. Hart, however, was a different proposition and Sinclair went down 17 and 21.
Graham McHugh, substituting for Les Hamilton, was no match for the Seniors and he was beaten by Hart 9 and 10; Birnie 16 and 18; and Rattray 16 and 17.
An extremely close match in the doubles saw Robertson and Sinclair clinch another crucial point in a three end victory (-18, 17, 22) against Hart and Birnie.
Despite this defeat Seniors are still in second position in division 2 with a seven point advantage over Veterans.
