McClymont A (Stuart Matthew, Nick Baxter, Erica Gyeresi) consolidated their position at the top of division 1 with an excellent performance away from home against Seaton Gashers (Derek Reid, Adrian Forrest, John Simmers).
Gyeresi, playing for the first time in the Aberdeen and District Table Tennis Association league structure found no difficulty in beating Simmers (12 and 14) and Reid (11 and 8). Forrest stuck doggedly to the task however and the end result with Gyeresi was a close call with the latter just managing to come out on top in three ends (-13, 17, 18).
Forrest showed that he is still a top performer by beating Matthew in a tight three ender (19, -16, 14). His normally tight game was ineffective however against the confident but careful play of Baxter and he crashed to a 5 and 14 defeat.
After such an impressive victory against Forrest, Baxter might have fully expected to beat Simmers. However the contrast in styles between Forrest and Simmers in successive matches appeared to be too great for Baxter to handle and Simmers notched up a notable victory (9 and 20).
In the other matches Simmers lost to Matthew 10 and 9 and Reid was beaten by Matthew (12 and 14) and Baxter (11 and 1). The doubles went to Baxter and Matthew (-13, 17, 18) at the expense of Simmers and Reid.
