ADTTA News 28 Oct 2000

Lewis Wilson, playing for McClymont A, returned to competitive table tennis in Aberdeen with resounding victories against Mitch Reid, Ian Duncan and Jim Milne of Triangle Pumas. Wilson has spent the last four years at the University of Edinburgh on a Teacher Education course and he is now employed locally as a Physical Education teacher. He played last for McClymont Nitro when with Ross Martin, Barry Allan and Iain Gammie, Nitro came second in division 1 to Pecten Panthers (Henning Patzke, Jimmy Wee, Mitch Reid). That season Patzke was undefeated, Wee lost only once, and Wilson lost two matches from 45 played.

Wilson experienced no difficulties against Reid (9 and 12), Duncan (11 and 11) or Milne (16 and 11. Nick Baxter (McClymont) won by a similar margin to emphasise the current dominance of the McClymont team in division 1. Surprisingly, Nicol Craig lost against both Reid (-9, 19, 18) and Duncan (-18, 9, 19) in very closely contested matches. Against Milne he was however totally in charge in an 11 and 12 win. The doubles proved almost to be a non-event when Wilson and Craig completely demoralised Milne and Reid in a 5 and 12 very one-sided victory.

Ken Allen has registered for Triangle Trio and David Low has registered to play for CS Mariners.
